The Syrian search & rescue organization White Helmets are transitioning from Chemonics significant support in facilitating funding to becoming a prime contractor for institutional donors. The four-year funding strategy will guide the team in successfully managing the transition and to continue growing the organization.

Assignment

Through desk review, key informant interviews with senior staff and institutional donors and context analysis, Katharina developed the White Helmets’ four-year funding strategy compiling business development, major donor gifts, philanthropy, CSR and crowdfunding.

Localization Agenda

Over the past years, the White Helmets developed from a local organization to an internationally recognized actor with significant visibility. As one of the few local organizations in the Middle East, they managed to access institutional donors directly, laying the foundation of the localization agenda in the region.
