The humanitarian system faces a critical challenge

The discrepancy between the promises of localization and the reality experienced by grassroots actors.

LNNGOs encounter systemic challenges in accessing funding, establishing equitable partnerships with international organizations, and navigating the complex project management cycle.

LocalizedAction aims to address this pressing problem by actively engaging with grassroots actors, donors and organizations to dismantle power imbalances, and bridge the gap between promises and implementation.

By addressing the systemic challenges faced by grassroots actors, LocalizedAction endeavors to pave the way for a more equitable, inclusive, and effective humanitarian system that harnesses the full potential of local responses.

Our Vision, Mission

Funding is Power.

Bridging the Gap for Localization

At LocalizedAction, our mission is to bridge the gap between the promises of the localization agenda and the practical realities faced by local humanitarian organizations. We strive to contribute to a more equitable humanitarian system through capacity strengthening initiatives, knowledge sharing, advocacy and enabling access to funding.

With strategic partnerships, we strive to support local civil society organizations to independently mobilize resources and effectively respond to the needs within their communities.

Our Goals

Funding is Power.

Mobilizing and Accessing Resources.

Local organizations will have access to direct funding from institutional donors without insurmountable due diligence or risk management requirements.

Community Mobilization.

To create independence, local organizations will be aware how to mobilize their own financial and human resources to respond swiftly and effectively during peaks of crises.

Locally-Led Responses.

Humanitarian assistance responding to conflicts or crises will be decided upon and lead by those affected by crisis, and not decided over their heads and without participation.

Shifting Power.

Most ambitiously, our goal is to contribute to the much-needed shifting power in the humanitarian system to move away from colonizing structures.leadership of the crisis they face.

Our Advantages

Funding is Power.

The future of every community lies in capturing the passion, imagination and resources of its people.”

With our work, we strive to be the bridge between local organizations and international actors. We bring expertise from both perspectives and are able to support local civil society organizations to access funding and find alternative, less-dependent solutions to respond to crises, such as community mobilization.

Crisis Expertise

Having worked for and with local organizations, we understand how to manage first-line emergencies and what challenges prevent a local response.

Community Connection

We bring in first-hand experience of setting up community-led, grassroot responses that operate independent from large-scale humanitarian funding.

Feminist Approach

Our work is driven by feminist principles, that ensure a representative humanitarian leadership. We know how to address access and participation for women and vulnerable groups and how to strengthen their leadership position.
